Cleansing – Your Decision.
Cleansing. We all know that it’s necessary to cleanse the outside of our bodies, but do we ever need to cleanse our insides? Western medicine says there isn’t enough proof to show it’s beneficial, Natural medicine supports that people have been cleansing for thousands of years with benefit. Also, it isn’t in the financial benefit of Western medicine to study or prove that cleansing is beneficial, because it would support the body’s ability to heal itself and not need pharmaceutical medicines. So, you have to read and study yourself and be your own health detective, making up your own mind about whether cleansing would benefit you. The natural doctors say it would, the Western doctors need more proof (which won’t come because funding won’t ever support something that takes away profit in a for-profit business like the pharmaceutical industry.)
Your body cleanses itself on a regular basis. The colon’s job is to move digested food through, absorb water and some nutrients, and to form stools. Stools are pushed out of the body. So, when all is working well, and we are living in a great environment, we don’t need to colon cleanse to survive. Our body knows what to do to get out the toxins.
The argument for cleansing your colon involves the toxins that we are exposed to. The typical American diet, pesticides used to grow our vegetables, and environmental toxins bombard us more than previous generations. The copious amounts of toxins in our environment are staggering when you learn the truth.
The EPA reports that over 80,000 chemicals are presently used in the USA and less than 2% have even been partially evaluated for safety by the U.S. government. The EPA considers more than 75% of these chemicals to be hazardous to human health. These chemicals are found in our shampoos, lotions, cleaners, and one of the worst offenders are air fresheners. We are exposed to chemicals in our carpets and even the materials that make up our sofas and furniture. These materials off-gas and we breathe them in. Our livers have to process these toxins and try to send them out through our colons. If our colons are working well, the toxins should not absorb back into our blood stream but should be sent out of the body. But if we are backed up at all and the fecal matter with toxins in it spend too much time in our colon, the toxins can be reabsorbed into our blood stream causing all kinds of discomfort and health challenges.
What Dr. Axe says:
According to Internet sensation Dr. Axe, “If you’re not having at least one bowel movement every day, this makes you a good candidate for a colon cleanse. It’s well-known that a variety of health problems stem from poor digestive health — for example, stomach pains, abdominal cramps, chronic fatigue, constipation, low energy, headaches and allergic reactions can all be traced back partially to problems with waste elimination.”
Normal healthy colons allow nutrients to be absorbed by the body while keeping toxins out. Regular bowel movements usually mean you have a healthy digestive system. But when your bowel movements are not regular, toxins are regularly at risk for reabsorbing into your blood. Your healthy colon should produce two to three well-formed bowel movements a day. These movements should take no effort and shouldn’t contain mucous, blood or partially digested food. However, the typical American diet contains far less fresh fruits and vegetables than is needed, and much more refined carbs and preservatives, which can reduce intestinal movement – leading to sticky fecal matter. Sticky feces can coat the colon and compact into the natural folds, reducing absorption and causing decay and toxicity.
So, if you were wanting to cleanse your colon, how would you do it?
There are many ways to cleanse the colon. Colonics should be done by a professional, especially if he or she is preparing for surgery or a colonoscopy that requires waste to be removed. A more common way to cleanse the colon is to use at home remedies like herbal supplements or enemas. This article by Dr. Axe discusses how to do colonics and how to do enemas at home.
I’d like to introduce you to an herbal colon cleanse that is recommended by naturopaths and has been around since the 1940’s. It is a very thorough and complete cleanse.
V.E. Irons, or Victor Earl Irons, Sr. was a 1919 graduate of Yale. He was a nationally renowned nutritionist, health advocate, and the father of the modern day cleansing program. V.E. Irons championed and pioneered the concept of health via nutrition, whole foods, and internal cleansing.
According to many naturopathic doctors, The VITRATOX Seven Day Cleansing Program is one of the best ways to cleanse the body and blood. It consists of fasting (without solid food), thereby giving your digestive system a rest. Your body uses that energy that was used for digestion to concentrate on cleaning out and eliminating old accumulated mucous with the assistance of the Cleansing Combo (which comes in the VATRATOX kit).. However, on this program, your body is not starving just because you are not eating solid food. In fact, your body is given the nutritional support that it needs to rebuild with the whole food nutrition from the products in the kit. Each day you will alternate between the Cleansing Combo and the Supplements every hour and a half. With this regime and daily enemas or colonics, the VITRATOX Cleansing Program assists in cleansing and rejuvenating every organ, gland, tissue, and cell of your body! Here are the specifics of how to follow the cleansing program:
STARTING THE SEVEN DAY CLEANSING PROGRAM
The evening before commencing the program, take 2 VITRATOX No. 19A Herbal Supplement tablets.
A. Each day for 7 days take the following Cleansing Combo:
- Pour about one inch (or two tablespoons) of your choice of 100% fruit juice into the pint jar. (This is to prevent the mixture from jelling too quickly and to give your drink flavor, although it is not necessary.)
- Add at least 10 ounces of water.
- Add 1 tablespoonful of VITRATOX No. 16 Detoxificant.
- Lastly, add 1 heaping teaspoonful of VITRATOX No. 19 Intestinal Cleanser.
- Put the cover on tightly and shake vigorously for 5 to 10 seconds.
- Drink quickly. Follow with fresh water, if desired.
B. 1 ½ Hours after taking the above Cleansing Combo take the Whole Food Supplements:
- 6 tablets of VITRATOX No. 22 GreenLife®
- 3 capsules of VITRATOX No. 53 Wheat Germ Oil
- 2 tablets of VITRATOX No. 57 Natural Source Vitamin C
- 2 tablets of VITRATOX No. 48 Beet Plant Juice (optional item – not in the kit)

C. 1 ½ Hours after taking the Whole Food Supplements, take a Cleansing Combo. Repeat throughout the day. Remember to take 2 tablets of No. 19A Herbal Supplement each night with last Cleansing Combo and drink plenty of water.
